Colossians 4:2-6 – “ Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison— that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak.
Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.”
I’m Heather Holleman. I’m so excited to share with you a verse of encouragement that will get you so excited to talk to people about Jesus. It comes from Colossians 4:2-6. It says this: “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly as I should. Be wise in the way you act towards outsiders and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.”
This is something I pray nearly every day. As I think about the people in my life who don’t yet know Jesus, I say, God, would you open a door for the message of the Gospel? Would you help me proclaim it clearly, and would you give me words to say that are seasoned with salt that make people thirsty to hear more about You? That’s an exciting prayer and one that I know God longs to answer. I make a list of people in my life who don’t yet know Jesus, and I get excited as I think and pray along with Paul for someone.
I’ll pray for us now. God, would you open the door for the message of the gospel? This is something you can pray every fresh day and it’s something we can do together. Let’s go!
